A favourite amongst the rich and famous, Courchevel 1850 is the ultimate chic resort at the heart of the vast and varied Three Valleys, offering fabulous skiing as well as superb shopping and dining.
With impeccably groomed corduroy pistes, fresh powder snow, efficient ski lifts, amazing mountain restaurants and even some bright spring sunshine, it's hard to find a reason not to love it!
Over the last decade, Courchevel has attracted skiers with ever-increasing budgets from around the world, which has had an effect on the resort.
However, it seems that those with big budgets tend to come at prime time, leaving the weeks just outside and these periods often quieter and at a lower-ish price. Skiing in January -after the Russian New Year- and March can be surprisingly quiet.
Courchevel has its airstrip and heliport to cater to private plane owners, the latter becoming the most popular method of transport for this area.
