Scarabeo Camp, nestled in the imposing Agafay desert landscape, embraces its arid surroundings, crafting a hotel experience that mirrors the essence of desert existence. The Camp's elegant white tents create a striking contrast against the impressive Atlas Mountains and the dramatic colours of the surrounding wilderness. Moving location every six months to evade or embrace the Moroccan sun, this desert dwelling camp combines the aesthetics of simplicity and serenity of silence, the result is understated luxury and recollections of the golden age of explorers. Think billowing bivouac tents, candlelit suppers and fireside evenings under Berber blankets.

Rooms

Whilst the dozen white bedroom tents are simple, their interiors are elegant and effortless. Taking inspiration from some of the finest African lodge designs, the style is elegant moderation; less typical Moroccan patterned textiles, more bleached wood and woven floor mats, white bedding, leather chairs and biscuit coloured cushions. Each tent features a kingsize bed, desk and wood burning stove and an array of North African artifacts and Moroccan lanterns placed throughout. Bathroom have solar heated shower and beyond the tent's confines, a canvas-covered lounge area provides a vantage point to observe the undisturbed desert landscape.

Activities

Exploration beckons in Agafay and there's a multitude of options by which to do so. Join a guided desert walkabout, or hop on a quad bike for a more exhilarating experience. For a more traditional mode of transport, take a camel or horseback ride across the barren landscape and return for an essential oil massage in your tent or a private dinner at The Black Rocks. With hot air balloon flights at sunrise and stargazing with the resident astronomer at night; there is something for everyone from dawn til dusk.
