Operated by Wayo Africa, the Serengeti Green Camp relocates seasonally to align with the patterns of the Great Migration, ensuring guests are always close to the action. From July to October, the camp is situated in the northern Serengeti, offering access to river crossings and diverse wildlife. Between December and March, it moves to the southern plains, where calving season attracts predators and offers exceptional game viewing opportunities. The camp is designed with a minimalistic approach, focusing on sustainability and blending seamlessly into the natural environment. It operates entirely off-grid, utilizing solar power and eliminating single-use plastics to reduce its ecological footprint. The emphasis is on providing a genuine safari experience that prioritizes nature and wildlife over excessive luxury.

Rooms

Accommodation at Wayo Serengeti Green Camp consists of ten spacious canvas tents, each thoughtfully positioned to offer privacy and unobstructed views of the surrounding landscape. The tents are designed to maximize natural light and airflow, featuring large mesh windows that provide panoramic vistas of the Serengeti. Inside, guests will find comfortable beds with quality linens, and each tent includes an en-suite bathroom equipped with a traditional bucket shower and eco-friendly toilet facilities. The décor reflects a rustic elegance, incorporating locally sourced materials and handcrafted furnishings that complement the natural surroundings. A private veranda with seating allows guests to relax and observe wildlife from the comfort of their own tent.

The camp offers a communal dining experience in an open-air mess tent, where guests can enjoy freshly prepared meals while sharing stories of the day’s adventures. The culinary team focuses on creating wholesome dishes using locally sourced ingredients, blending international flavors with traditional Tanzanian cuisine. Breakfast typically includes a selection of fruits, cereals, and hot options to start the day, while lunch is often served picnic-style during game drives. Serengeti Green Camp offers a range of activities designed to immerse guests in the rich biodiversity of the Serengeti. Daily game drives, led by experienced guides, provide opportunities to observe the “Big Five” and witness the dramatic events of the Great Migration. The camp is also one of the few that offers walking safaris, allowing guests to explore the landscape on foot and gain a deeper understanding of the ecosystem. These guided walks offer insights into animal tracking, plant identification, and the smaller creatures often overlooked during vehicle-based safaris. For an additional perspective, hot air balloon safaris can be arranged, offering a breathtaking aerial view of the plains at sunrise.
