Kuro Tarangire
Kuro Tarangire is an intimate tented camp nestled within Tanzania’s Tarangire National Park, renowned for its rich wildlife and picturesque landscapes. Situated in a secluded area near the Tarangire River, the camp offers guests an authentic safari experience, blending seamlessly with the natural environment.
This is my favourite camp in Tarangire and it is no surprise it wins award after award. I particularly like how the camp blends into the setting, you really have to look twice to see it.
About
Kuro Tarangire is designed to have a minimal environmental footprint, reflecting a harmonious balance between comfort and sustainability. The camp’s strategic location allows for diverse safari activities, including game drives, walking safaris, and night excursions, offering guests a comprehensive exploration of the park’s ecosystems. The area is particularly noted for its large elephant herds, diverse birdlife, and iconic baobab trees, providing a rich and immersive wildlife experience.
Rooms
The camp comprises six spacious and thoughtfully designed tents, including a family unit, each positioned to ensure privacy and unobstructed views of the surrounding bush. Constructed with natural materials, the tents feature comfortable beds draped with mosquito nets, en-suite bathrooms equipped with both indoor and outdoor bucket showers, and private verandas furnished with seating areas. The décor reflects a rustic elegance, incorporating neutral tones and local craftsmanship to create a warm and inviting atmosphere that complements the natural surroundings.
Dining
Dining at Kuro Tarangire is a communal and enriching experience, with meals served in the open-sided mess area that offers panoramic views of the landscape. The camp’s chefs prepare a variety of dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, blending international flavors with traditional Tanzanian cuisine. Guests can enjoy bush breakfasts, picnic lunches during game drives, and dinners under the starlit African sky, all accompanied by a selection of beverages. Special dietary requirements are catered to upon request, ensuring a personalized culinary journey for each guest.
Activities
Kuro Tarangire offers a range of activities designed to immerse guests in the natural beauty and wildlife of Tarangire National Park. Expert guides lead daily game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, providing opportunities to observe elephants, lions, leopards, and a multitude of other species in their natural habitats. Walking safaris offer a closer look at the flora and fauna, as well as insights into tracking and traditional uses of indigenous plants. Night drives reveal the park’s nocturnal creatures, adding a unique dimension to the safari experience. Birdwatching is particularly rewarding, with over 550 species recorded in the area.
