Entamanu Ngorongoro

About

Entamanu sits on the north-west rim of one of the world's most iconic natural phenomena, Tanzania's Ngorongoro Crater. Uniquely perched to exploit the views of the plummeting crater below, this lodge has dramatic 360 views. The area is also home to the Maasai people, known for their rich history culture. Everywhere you look there's something utterly remarkable.

Rooms

Accommodation consists of six beautiful, spacious wooden cottages. Two of these are family room with two bedrooms, while each standard cabin has one bedroom with either a double bed or twin bed set up. All cabins have bedside tables with lighting, a seating area, a writing desk and well-appointed en-suite facilities comprising separate flush toilet, twin wash basins and a walk-in shower. The crater rim is notorious for being cold and windy at night, so every tent has remote-controlled gas heaters and hot water bottles to keep the cold away.

Wildlife

This ancient volcano imploded many millennia ago, leaving the world's largest intact caldera with 600m-high walls on all sides, creating a self-contained wildlife sanctuary. There is an abundance of predators who habit the Crater floor, with lion, leopard, cheetah, spotted hyena and side-striped jackal all commonly spotted. You'll also find Tanzania's healthiest population of black rhino.
