Phinda Vlei
Phinda Vlei Lodge is an intimate and romantic safari lodge and it's unique location offers ever-changing game viewing from the comfort of your suite.
About
Overlooking a unique vlei (wetland system) on the edge of Phinda Private Game Reserve’s rare sand forest, Phinda Vlei offers a truly exclusive safari experience in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province, known for its dramatic scenery and subtropical climate. Showcasing one of the continent’s finest Big Five game viewing experiences and displaying seven unique landscapes across an impressive 73 800 acres of protected wildlife terrain, guests at Phinda experience unforgettable game drives led by professionally trained rangers and Zulu trackers, as well as a wide range of optional adventures in the bush and on the beach.
Rooms
There are just six thatched suites, each spaced at least 25 metres away from its neighbour/s, allowing for plenty of privacy. Each suite is beautifully constructed from timber, stone, thatch, and glass, and feature a beautiful, plantation-style bedroom, with a luxuriously spacious ensuite bathroom and dressing room that blends a sense of old-world luxury with quirky, contemporary features. Relax on your private wraparound deck or take a dip in your private plunge pool, if no elephants, antelope or baboons have come for a drink!
Wildlife
Phinda is home to a magnificent variety of wildlife, including the Big Five, but is best known for its large population of cheetah, reintroduced to the reserve after an absence of 50-odd years, and black rhino. The sand forest is home to the shy suni and the rare red duiker, two tiny antelope that are seldom encountered elsewhere.
