About
Manda Bay is a small boutique lodge located on the tip of an unspoiled, idyllic island in Lamu’s archipelago. Here, you kick off your shoes and enjoy simplistic beauty in palm-thatched cottages and open living spaces. Offering beautiful accommodation, informal pampering and barefoot style. All the buildings are in keeping with the local landscape and are constructed using driftwood and local building techniques.
Rooms
Manda Bay has 22 ensuite rooms, and each room is an individual cottage constructed with local materials in traditional coastal style with palm thatch roofs and woven matting covering. The Beach Front rooms are situated right on the seafront and have stunning views across the Indian Ocean. Sea View rooms are set back slightly from the Beach Front rooms, still with lovely views of the ocean, and the Garden rooms are simpler but more comfortable, set back in the gardens of the resort.
Food
Manda Bay creates delicious gourmet cuisine using the freshest ingredients possible including a large variety of hand-selected seafood—sometimes caught by the deep sea fishing parties! Eat either in their dining area or on the beach under the stars at your candlelit table. As with everywhere in Kenya, sundowners are an important part of the day, brought from the bar to the beachfront in front of a glowing fire.
Activity
Whether it be sitting by the pool cocktail in hand, paddle boarding down the silent mangrove waterways, sleeping on the hammock outside your bedroom, or walking down the beach at low tide, you won't get bored. The water sports toy box is full and Manda Bay is an ideal location for first-timers to experience water activities, as the sea surrounding the lodge is safe, calm and warm. You can even taking a drive out to see the resident herd of buffalo in the infamous blue Range Rover.
