Ngala Safari Lodge
Meaning 'lion' in the Shangaan traditional local language, Ngala is a fitting name for this beautiful lodge, known for sightings of the Big Five.
About
Ngala Safari Lodge, set in the heart of Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, known for sightings of the Big Five, wild dogs and a host more species, is an exclusive destination sheltered by spreading mopane and tamboti trees beside a well-frequented waterhole. Decorated in chic minimalist style this fabulous lodge and its sister tented camp are perfectly placed to explore this wild region adjacent to Kruger National Park. Experience excitement, Africa-style, on game drives and walking safaris.
Rooms
Ngala Safari Lodge has 20 modest-sized but very comfortable suites. Built as adjoining cottages, suites feature thatched roofs, tiled floors and unique artworks to create an old-style safari atmosphere. Each room has mosquito-netted double or twin beds, air conditioning, a minibar and a contemporary en-suite bathroom with a shower and a deep-sided bath, plus private verandas. Ngala has three family cottages, each consisting of two identical regular cottages that are conveniently interlinked. Family cottages each have an ensuite bathroom, with a bath, indoor and additional alfresco shower. Beds can be converted to twins; thus accommodating a maximum of two adults and two children.
Activities
Game drives offer the greatest opportunity for wildlife viewing, both during the day and at night, when the nocturnal species emerge. Bush walks allow an in-depth look at the environment. Or, for a different experience, have a full day safari with a picnic or enjoy a bush dinner in the wilds. Take a guided walking safari or a helicopter flight (extra cost) for a unique perspective and, at the end of the day, guests can enjoy pamper yourself with a massage.
Children
Ngala Safari Lodge is the ideal family lodge, with three family cottages, a Family Suite, and a dedicated WILDchild programme which is filled with fun, interactive activities that offer kids the opportunity to leave with treasured memories of the African bush.
