Sabi Sands is urguably one of the most exclusive private reserves surrounding the Kruger National Park, and it’s home to some of the most luxurious lodges in Africa, including Tengile River Lodge, which opened in December 2018. Tengile River Lodge focuses on high-spec contemporary design, yet despite it's modern finishes and smooth lines it doesn’t look out place in it's surroundings. The lodge’s main area offers a mixed selection of open, interactive and private places and is home to a fabulous central bar, as well as dining decks with magnificent views over the river. With comfy sofas, reading nooks, an outdoor firepit, gym and spa there are plenty of ways to relax after a day in the bush.

Rooms

Each of the nine spacious and secluded suites are perfectly positioned along the Sand River to make the most of the views over the wilderness. In addition to a master bedroom, bathroom and outdoor shower, all suites have private verandas shaded by the boughs of the trees, with a sunken seating area and lap pool. There are two dedicated family suites with inter-leading doors (also good for a small group) - the living areas in each of the rooms can be converted into sleeping areas for kids too.

Activities

The Sabi Sand Game Reserve neighbours and shares a 50 km unfenced boundary with the Kruger National Park and benefits from a great diversity of wildlife including the Big Five. Guests can explore the area on game drives and walks, plus specialist photography guides and lessons are available for those wanting to improve their camera skills. The reserve is also famed for its prolific leopard sightings and strict vehicle limits at sightings ensure the exclusivity of up-close game viewing.
